My fiance and I will be taking our first dance as husband and wife to "our song", which I'm guessing the majority of our guests will not like, but my family tends to be very liberal. The song is rap: ALL I NEED By Method Man and Mary J. Blige. We will be playing the unedited verson, which does swear, and dancing to most of the song ourselves and at the end our wedding party will join us. It is an ADLUT ONLY reception, with the exception of the flower girls and ring bearer. What do you think of our choice?? Will our guests be appalled?? Throughout the reception we will be playing all different kinds of love songs from every genre of music, so I'm thinking it should be ok. What's your take??
Unconventional Wedding Song??
who cares what your guest will think. It is a song that has meaning between you and your fiance. That is the only thing that matters. It is your day and nobody else's. If you try to please everyone you will find that everyone will be happy.....but you.
Reply:It's your wedding by all means play what you want to play, and whatever version of it that you want to play as well. I definantly agree that if you are going to play the unedited version you should escort the children out, and distract them so that they aren't subjected to those kinds of things.
Reply:It is your Wedding and if this is the song ou want to dance too then that is your choice. The only thing I might suggest is dont have the volume up so loud that you really blast people away with this..... keepit moderate... That way only those on the dance floor really hear this..... you could always turn the volume up on the softer songs......
Just my take on the situation.. I have sensitive ears and really loud music is very hard to tolerate.....
have a great Wedding
Reply:I personally LOVE that song! And If you want it as the "first dance song" I say go for it, it is your wedding. But for me, I would probably play the edited version. They drop the word F*#@ alot. And I really don't care what other people think about the song, but out of respect for my elderly guests (grand parents) I would not want them sitting there listening to the language. But the lyrics are meaningful and still can be without the cursing.
But like every one says here, It is your day....... So if you don't care, then do it!!!
Congrats!!!
Reply:Use the edited version -- no matter who is there otherwise it lacks class.
I was at a wedding years ago and they danced to Bobby Brown's My Perogative - It was fun and clean and the whole party joined in. It was one of the few ones I remember.
Reply:I think as an adult planning the wedding you have a responsibility to the flower girls and ring bearer so I would at least play the edited version....
Reply:its your wedding do whatever you want you had to sit through their wedding now its their turn
Reply:the song is great but with respect to your guest which may be a bit older and younger play the edited version so you wont have to hassel with escorting your lil outside. It seems a bit childish to play music with cuss words at such a beautiful event.
Reply:I think the best thing to say in this situation is, It's your day!!!!! If you want 'your song' to dance to for your first dance as a married couple then go for it and don't worry about anybody else! Remember, its your day!
