Need Reception advice!! :)?

We got married Dec 29th in Colorado after wedding planning headaches here in TX. We're having our reception here in TX on March 1st and I am needing last minute advice. The place that we are having the reception at a place that does it all- center pieces and everything.. but I want to add my own personal touch. Our colors are Navy and white- any ideas or advice at all is GREATLY appreciated! I want to add some flowers into the decor since the place doesn't supply any real flowers. I thought about having the disposable cameras on a side table for guests to take pics, also.. for the guest book, more of a guest jar- where guests can write a special message to us and place it in the jar (I'm a scrapbooker, so I really have no use for a sign in book).. maybe a camera by the jar so guests can take a self portrait? poloroid maybe?..

Any advice is appreciated- THANKS!

I really like the picture frames (matting) that guests sign.
Reply:the guest jar- love it.

the camera's. most brides will vote against them. reason being, the pics come out bad and a lot of times people take the camers. i haven't heard any of my friends say they were glad they did the cameras, and i'm the only single one left.
Reply:The cameras at my wedding were a big flop. I ended up with 100 pictures of the same thing. Tons of pics of me and my dad dancing, tons of pics of the toasts, tons of pics of the cake cutting. I'd skip the cameras, I felt like it was a waste to develop all those pictures when we had the photographer taking those pics too!
Reply:Love the guest jar idea. Go with that for sure. I'm a scrapbooker too and I wish I'd thought of that! As for the cameras, I would definitely do that. I have many friends that have done it and you get some pretty good candid shots that you wouldn't normally get because the photographer misses them or you're busy "making the rounds" so it's a great way to get those kinds of shots.

As for adding your own personal touch, you could always do something like your own personal M%26amp;Ms at each table that are navy and white with your names on them or put some kind of flowers in a floating arrangement to add your own touch. If you do M%26amp;Ms or something like that, you can always use white tewell to wrap them up and navy ribbon.

My cousin had their own personal lottery tickets made for the wedding too and those were cute.

Just some ideas! Good luck!

Reply:Just because they do all the decorating doesn't mean you can't add your personal touches. Our reception site did everything but we designed and did our own centerpieces. I'm not really sure at this late date how you are going to get stuff to them in time but you could do white roses with navy blue ribbon around the vases on the tables where you and your DH and your bridal party are going to sit. You could have your florist bring irises to decorate the cake table.

I wouldn't do disposable cameras. We did them and they turned out to be a waste. Most of the pictures were fuzzy because you have to be really close for them to take a good picture. Plus most of the film in the cameras wasn't even used.

One thing you could do is get a pen that has ink that disappears after 24-72 hours and place lines on pages of a scrapbook for your guests to sign and a place for them to offer advice to the new couple. Then you could decorate the pages later. The idea of the jar is cute. I just don't know how many guests will go to the trouble to try and think of something to say. You may not get very many.
Reply:The guest jar is great. We did something similar to that and it was so nice. We got great advice from people who had been married for a long time and other very sweet messages.
