So, my cousin is getting married. She's kind of... flighty (airhead, etc) so most of the planning had landed on my shoulders. Which I totally don't mind at all, and I'm enjoying the idea. She's set the date for March 1st. She wants a really simple wedding, and there's probably going to be about 50 people there. It's happening either at a secluded spot on the beach, or at our friends back-yard (depends on the weather). The reception is taking place at a hall that we've already rented for the weekend. Dresses, flowers, suits, hair and make-up, decorations, chairs and tables, the guy who's marrying them, cake, catering, limos, DJ, are all sorted out and delt with. Is there anything more I need to do? This is my first time planning... so I'm not sure what all is needed. Am I done? Anything else I'm forgetting?
Wedding planning?
How about a photographer?
Reply:I can only think of a couple of things which you did not mention.
Both the bride and groom should present small gifts to their attendants.
Is there going to be a guest book? If so, where will it be located, and is someone going to sit with it and greet people, or is it just going to be in an obvious place by the entrance to the reception.
What are they cutting the cake with? You'll want to either rent a nice knife from the caterer (and maybe you already have), or buy one from someplace.
Are they registered for gifts someplace? If not, they really should consider registering, and if they are, you should include a note about where they are registered in the invitations (if they haven't already gone out). If the invites have gone out, and there was no mention of where they are registered, just have the bridal party spread the news by word of mouth.
That's all I can think of! Sounds like you have it all under control.
I hope it all goes off perfectly.
Reply:The bachlorette party! Don't forget the guest book! I forgot all about it at mine and be sure the bride and groom pack a bag for their hotel stay. My hubby and I went to our hotel and realized we had no clothes for the next day so we just went home and I cried.
Reply:Hi. You are doing great!
~ What about a photographer?
~ She and the groom will need to go and get the marriage license.
~ With the catering...is that beverages also?
~ Do you need to bring in tableware (plates, cups, napkins, linens?) or will the catering company do that? Something to check on.
~ Are you doing any centerpieces for the tables?
~ Guest book?
~ Rehearsal dinner?
~ She and the groom need to buy gifts for the attendants.
Reply:Dont forget the rehearsal dinner. The others are pretty much optional...like Party Favors, Hotel reservations.
Also don't forget to get something for the bride to keep occupied while awaiting the final moment. I hear the Wii is a great game system to have...relieves stress and relaxes the nerves...
If this is your first wedding planned...it won't be perfect...but just as you did now...don't be afraid to ask more questions.
Reply:Is you cousin registered anywhere? Typically engaged couples register some where so people can easily pick out a wedding gift for the couple. JCPenny, Target, WalMart and BedBath%26amp;Beyond are good places to register.
Reply:I wish you could help me! I am meeting my guy at Starbucks and then going to the local courthouse so instead of a lunch date we are having a lunch wedding. Got the dress at Target for 39.99 and wearing flip-flops. So hey did they get the marriage license at the courthouse. Usually you have to get one for the minister to sign. What a great cousin you are.
Reply:okay, so this may have been mentioned, but here it goes
photographer/vidographer
the marraige licence (see if a blood test is required and how soon they can get it. where i am it is good for a month and no blood test (AL))
guest book
favors (get something local if you are having alot of out of town guests--i'm doing apple butter in little mason jars!)
place the girls are going to get ready (often overlooked!) make sure it is a room with lots of space
think about the planning for the actual ceremony for each place (at the beach, or the friends house) such as where the wedding party will walk from, where the ceremony will take place (actual place they will stand) ect
