Hi I am having my wedding in two weeks and i think i am getting a great deal please tell me if i have got it all at an awesome price or am i cheap lol? 150 guests TOTAL $6800

You just lucked out because a lot of people you know did things for free. Some of us are not that lucky.



I'm pricing places right now. I found a great place about $69 a head plus tax and gratuity. After that's included, it would cost me $13K. That does not even include my dress or anything.



Unfortunately, our family's have ZERO connections. I would say, if your reception site was 40%, you saved THOUSANDS.

It sounds like your wedding will be gorgeous, AND not break the bank. No one will know how "little" your wedding cost unless you tell them. You have some GREAT deals and connections!

Reply:as long as it worked for u than go for it. i got my dress at davids bridal for 40.00 and so that started me to keep in budget and i have done it. so if it works for u let it go and enjoy your day, i think u did a wonderful job at budgeting so pat yourself on the back and have the ceremony...

I am spending 30,000 but no friends or family are helping me.
Reply:My wedding was like too in ways - except my dress was a lot more expensive, as were our rings - but we didn't even rent a limo because we had the reception at the hall connected to the church, and because my husband was a pastry chef who specialized in wedding cakes, he made our 5-tier wedding cake for our big day.

Reply:I think you have a wonderful budget and No way are you being cheap, you just so happen to have family %26amp; friends in the business! I only wish I knew so many people that could help me with my wedding! I'm lucky with a few things too. The church is free and my cousin is making my cake for free. The rest I'm paying for, but those are two big costs out of the way.

Reply:No this sounds great. It just goes to show you can have all you want for your wedding for a reasonable price. You don't have to spend a lot. You must have done some good shopping-around and I also think you were extremely lucky with some free and cheap things. Congratulations and enjoy your special day!
Reply:I think it sounds like you've really been able to take advantage of the old saying, "it's not what you know, but who you know!". That's great that you've gotten so many bargains and have friends and family who will help out with their professions!



My only caution is this:

sometimes when doing business with friends and family, there is a tendency for them to assume they know what you want, and just give you what they think you should have, especially since they are giving it to you for free! Make sure that like this week you meet with them and thank them, and go over exactly what you want. Tell the band what songs you want played when, give the photographer a photo list, etc. This should let them know that although they are doing you a favor, it is still your wedding, and you really should be able to call some of the shots!
