Should i wear a pink wedding dress?

Hi ladies, I'm torn! I'm planning a wedding for April, 2009, ceremony at a garden and reception at a golf course clubhouse. My bridesmaids are wearing chocolate brown and the flowers are going to be green and pink tulips with white or ivory roses.

I just spotted a gorgous maggie sottero wedding dress that looks amazing in light pink (not so much when its white as you loose the detail). I'm not sure if a pink wedding dress would be too much and I should just stick with the traditional white. I am unable to find any pics of brides in pink dresses and am worried how it will look in photographs etc... I'm really looking for suggestions and opinions. Below are some links to the dresses I'm considering:

Should i wear a pink wedding dress?
I like the pink dress, but I agree it's too much pink and makes it look like a regular formal. You would be surprised at how you'd see those pick-ups in person on the white. They'd stand out more than you think.
Reply:I like it when people go colorful, just go with what color they want :)

I will be wearing a colorful dress. I really liked the pink one, and I usually don't like that style, but somehow the pink made it beautiful. I also like the third one in style
Reply:Although I am not a huge fan of that particular dress, there is nothing wrong with a pink wedding gown. It is a myth that brides must wear white, or that white symbolizes virginity, a first marriage, etc. Brides used to wear their best dress in any color.

Asian brides wear RED. Indian brides wear beautifully coloured bridal wear.

I wore a pink gown with white lace and silk organza over top, and I looked and felt fabulous. Although some people were shocked the first time I strolled down the aisle, they started smiling afterwards and I got many compliments on my dress afterwards. EVERYONE asked where I got it and said it suited my skintone perfectly. People are so bored with the typical white strapless gown. Express yourself and don't be scared to be who you are.

To keep some tradition, I wore a Cathedral veil with a blusher. In my faith, the veil symbolizes virginity, which was a commitment I honoured.

As long as you have thought about it (be sure you REALLY want a pink gown in your photos in 25 years time), take the plunge and wear that dress with pride! Pink gowns can be very beautiful! I had pink and white flowers to match. Go for it!

On a side note, another option is to wear a traditional white gown for the ceremony and a pink dress for the reception. Colored dresses are becoming more and more common, so regardless of what you choose, know you can't go wrong!

Good luck!

P.S. My wedding colors were black and white, with pink accents.
Reply:Sarah Jessica Parker's biggest regret is not wearing a more traditional white or ivory dress. Before you decide on pink, ask yourself if there is any chance you would regret your decision. Remember, you can always add a pink sash or some pink details to your dress. BTW, the dresses are pretty.
Reply:Personally I am a fan of the Ivory wedding dress.

However colour wedding dresses are becoming increasingly popular. If you are in loveeeeeeee with pink dress then wear the pink dress on your wedding day and be proud because you are the bride. Who cares what anyone thinks of pink. But do try on white ones to see if you like them cause I tried on a red wedding dress and in the magazine it looked gorgeous and on it was UGLY!!!

Have a wonderful wedding!!!!! :)
Reply:I think it is very nice, if thats what you like go for it. It looks nothing like a prom dress. I think it will look great with your bridesmaids. Congrats.
Reply:I think the dress is beautiful but it dose look a little like a prom dress I have seen some very pretty white ivory or cream dresses trimmed in pink that look more like the traditional wedding dresses but if you are looking for something untraditional have a blast you will look Georges
Reply:Of the three the pink one is by far the WOW dress of the bunch. I would choose that one, epsecially because that seems to be the dress that YOU love.

Go for it!

ETA:LG has some great pictures of that dress. To me, I agree the darker pink does look promish, but if you scroll down further there is another bride in the pale pink (which seems to be the color you are looking at) and I see no prom in that dress color at all.
Reply:maybe try white and pink. have the dress in white but the details in pink. that way it still feels and looks like a wedding dress rather then a prom.

i really like the colors of your bridesmaids and also your flower choices. very unique.
Reply:Look at this it's Gwen Stefani's gown, if your torn maybe something like this ( you could always have it lighter) by the way the last dress is my exact dress!!!

Good luck!
Reply:this too is a maggie dress from a couple that married, the bride wore pink....looks too prom like to me!

Reply:I wouldn't say this if your wedding weren't a year off, because I don't want to make you nervous, but are you SURE about the brown and pink thing? It's been the most overdone trend over the past couple of years (along with strapless dresses and tiaras, the whole "princess" look), and I'm reading that it's on its way out. I'm thinking by next year it will be totally out. How about something less trendy? I love the pink dress idea, perhaps combine it with a berry color or a brighter pink? Or black?
Reply:i think pink sounds great now but years down the road it does not , have pink beading or ribbion or wear pink shoes. They are all great dresses
Reply:the pink one is the most beautiful one out of all of them...

i think it will look great being differnt from everyone else..

i went ot a summer wedding once and the bride was wearing dark purple... now thats a colour to stay away from...

the pink is not a bright pink so it would look awesome
Reply:Today, anything goes. The second link dress is beautiful and chocolate bridesmaids dresses to complement a pink dress, stunning and fashionable. If you like it , do it. If you want to be traditional go with the pink accessory. My daughter in law to be is wearing white with red inlay and the dress is stunning.
Reply:To be completely honest i'm not a fan of a colored dress for your wedding stick with the white(you can never go wrong with white)---you can get a pink dress for any other ocassion--*******

Or you know you can probably get a white dress with light pink accesories---
Reply:Honestly I like the third one the most. If you want to wear pink you should, but I'm afraid you will regret it in the end. You won't stand out as much as the white bridal dress will. But remember, it's your wedding and you should wear what you want to wear. Also, if you're having pink tulips it might be a bit too much pink.
Reply:Wow i love the pink! Wearing a white dress is just a tradition you don't have to wear white....if you want to stand out and do something different go for it its a pretty dress! Besides i wont look weird wit the pic because its a light pink! But your the only one that's going to knw that the dress is "the one"! Congrats and have fun planning your wedding!
Reply:go to www.offbeatbride.com You will see brides in all colors on there. Not everyone looks good in white so I think it i sgreat to rock a different color. Mine is going to be very very pale yellow. Almost cream but still yellow. I look awful in white! Go with the pink I think it is great not to fit the cookie cutter bride mold of everyone else! I love it!
Reply:I love them all! If you like the PINK dress then go for it girl!

You can do whatever YOU want!
Reply:I think the dress is gorgeous! I don't see anything wrong with going with pink. It depends on whether you have dreamed of a white wedding gown or not. Anything goes nowadays. My granddaughter's colors are pink and brown also for this July. But she is wearing a white dress.
Reply:no, they look like prom dresses. Stick with the white.
Reply:My best friend got married in that same dress only in gold. I think it is a beautiful dress. I love the idea of being unique. It is your special day, I say do what you want! I can tell you that although her dress was gold, my friend got TONS of compliments from guests and vendors about how gorgeous and different her dress was. It was definitely something people will remember. I love the pink. Congrats and good luck! I am sure whatever you pick will be beautiful!
Reply:I say go for the pink. its a very light pink and I think your pink dress and the maids brown w/your flower colors will make it look just like spring!
Reply:i think it will look pretty. If you want to know how you will look then go try on some pink gowns and have someone take digital photos of you. You will be able to see if it is the color you want.
Reply:I WOULD GO WITH WHITE!!!!! IS THIS YOUR FIRST WEDDING??? USUALLY THE BRIDE WEARS ANOTHER COLOR OTHER THAN WHITE IF IT'S LIKE A 2ND OR 3RD WEDDING!!
Reply:if you want a pink gown - or for that matter even purple with yellow polka dots then YOU HAVE it .

your gown should reflect your personality NOT fit in with others ideas of what you should be wearing.

pink may just be a much more flattering color for you than either white or the many shades of ivory/cream.

I have made 2 wedding outfits in pink %26amp; the first one I did - the color was perfect for the bride as she absolutely glowed. her skin tone was such that in a white gown she would have been 'lost'. The other one looked magnificent on the bride as well.

Over the years I have also done other colored wedding gowns
Reply:You know what? Go for it! Who is to tell you what dress you wear at YOUR wedding? You pick the dress you want most and happily walk down the aisle!
Reply:too prommy... go with white or off white you won't regret it.
Reply:The pink one is a no-no only cause it looks like a prom mess...the other 2 are gorgeous!!!!! If you'r gonna do a different color like pink or red you have to find a unique simple beautiful dress. I have seen brides in red not bad at all, I've seen a pretty light pink with dark pink train not bad at all. I wanted a pink dress but all the ones I saw were ugly and prom messes! Good luck, it's your day wear whatever color you want but be beautiful in it. if you don't want white keep it simple and remember you have to find a pink veil to match.
Reply:This is just my personal opinion, but that particular dress looks too pink. It would have to be the lightest, palest pink ever. I think white dresses with pink accents look stunning, however.

But the best dress for you is the one that makes you feel like a million bucks as you're marrying the man you love, so go with your heart.
