What was your wedding like?

What was you wedding like?

Did you have a theme or a colour scheme?

What was your dress like?

What flowers and what was your cake like?

Where did you get married? Where was your reception?

I want all the details! :-)

What was your wedding like?
INTRO: my wedding was planned in a month and a half, and my husband lived across the US from me, didn't save money, parents were traveling abroad so didn't have much financial help from them! so decisions were fast, but didn't regret anything!

THEME: japanese, because my husband and I are moving to japan (i'm a military wife!) the colors were pink - mainly because we bought (fake) cherry blossoms that were a beautiful bright pink color

DRESS: very simple white gown. no frills and what not. just tied a pink satin bow around my waist to add color.

FLOWERS: did a white and pink rose combination with some stephanotis (spelling?) in between

CAKE: i got married around valentine's day, so i had a red velvet cake with a light white frosting! omg, it was honestly the best cake i ever had! then it was topped with the pink cherry blossoms.

CEREMONY/RECEPTION: didn't have much time to plan, so i had my ceremony and reception at a hotel (Hilton). the rooms were adjacent to one another. it was nice because i had the corner of the hotel solely for the wedding.
Reply:I'm not married yet, i think i just met the man i want to be with forever though :) I don't know why I'm answering this...other than the fact we have the same name! :0)
Reply:Got married the end of July, so made everything happy and pretty!

My gown wasn't really a 'summer' one, but the one I fell in love with! It was long sleeved, scoop neck, basque waist to a full skirt, long train - embellished with crystals, pearls, beads, and lace applique - very traditional. I wore a small tiara and fingertip veil.

Our colors were pink, lilac, yellow and light teal - taken from the dresses the bridesmaids chose! It was a cute summer dress, tea-length, short pouffed sleeves, deep v-neck, basque waist, full skirt, back was low with three straps criss-crossed. It was a print of tiny flowers in the forementioned colors, kind of done in a faded watercolor style - very pretty and different!

Each couple had a 'color' - for example, the MOH and Best Man were pink - so she wore a wreath of pink flowers in her hair, had pink ribbons trailing from her bouquet, and he wore a gray tux with a pink bowtie and cummerbund. ... and so it went with the other colors, for the three other couples. It was NOT too matchy-matchy, it was just right.

Flowers were mixed bouquets of our colors; mine was a handtied European style.

We had a church wedding in our hometown, performed by my husband's brother, who was our parish priest at the time, and two other priests who were our friends. Our ceremony was traditional Ukrainian Catholic. My husband and I walked up the aisle together, with the attendants walking in as couples before us.

The reception was in the ballroom of a local hotel. We hosted 200 guests (lots of kids, too!) to a wonderful buffet, full open bar, and night of dancing. Everyone had a ball! First dance was to a traditional Ukrainian love ballad, SO beautiful!

No 'typical' wedding cake. For dessert we had a variety of cheesecakes and dainties. At the head table, though, we had a traditional Ukrainian "korovai", which are wedding breads; we had ours done with three tiers, decorated with traditional symbols and in our colors.

Later in the evening, we gave our wrapped and decorated fruitcake, for our guests to take home and put under their pillows, to dream of their love (family tradition).
Reply:I had a lovely romantic wedding in June 2006. It was a beautiful hot summers day.

The theme was leaves, the colours were cream, brown and gold.

My dress was ivory with diamantes and skeleton leaves scattered around the edges and the front all criss crossed over itself. It was a princess style gown (outy but not too outy).

The bridesmaids were in 50's style brown dresses. Boob tube style around the top, ruched around the middle and netted, down to just below the knee.

I had cream roses with diamantes in the centre of them and skeleton leaves wrapped around the outside.

My hair was long and curly, and I had top part pinned up and swirled with skeleton leaves and diamantes to match my hair.

I designed the cake, we bought a 4 tier zig zag stand, and had a big chocolate cake on bottom stand with the words 'today i marry my best friend, the one I dream with, laugh with, love' iced onto it - this matched our wedding invites. Then there was a traditional fruit cake on top stand. Middle two stands were fairy cakes that matched the top and bottom stands, iced in brown and cream, and with little iced leaves on. The ppl on the top stand had been made to look like me and my husband. The clothes and appearance had been matched.

We got married at a big church with the church bells ringing, and had 1930's Beauford convertibles to take us to reception. Reception was at Chevin Lodge in Otley, Leeds, which is a beautiful hotel with log cabins scattered amongst the woods. The reception room was decorated and the room opened out onto the lakeside and woods. We had a huge firework display at night do!

All in all it was wonderfully romantic and the most amazing day of our lives!

Just wish we could do it again :) xx
Reply:I had cream silk with lace and taffeta wedding dress in the style of Princess Diana and a cream bouquet with yellow freesias and a rolls royce and a cream and taffeta veil and three bridesmaids in purple taffeta with pruple and white posies and a three tier traditional wedding cake with all the trimmings and a sit down meal and a buffet for 150 and an evening disco for friends to come to. With a honey moon in London with a four poster bed and champagne and a chicken meal waiting.
Reply:Havent gotten married yet.... but these are the plans so far!

Colors: Victoian Lilac/Platnuim/hint of teal

Dress: i was going to go with a maggie sottero dress, but i may have changed my mind

IDK about cake yet.... flowers i want lilies i think

We will either get married on my moms property or we will marry in a hilly area near our home that over looks all the SF bay area. :)
Reply:we got married on 1st july 2006 and we had the whole thing-ceremony, reception and evening party- at a hotel in oxford. The theme was 'daisies' as i saw a double-page spread in a wedding mag and instantly fell in love with the white and yellow, so i had marguerites as the main flowers in everything (bouquets, button holes, all arrangements etc) my save the dates, invitations, name place cards, favour bags (which i hand made) guest book, 3-tier cake which my dad made, all had daisies on. My bridesmaid dresses were pale yellow with ivory shoes and an ivory bit along the top of the dresses. My dress was ivory and strapless and was like a bodice with lots of pretty embriodery on it and a full skirt (attached) with quite a long train. I had a veil with swarovski crystals dotted around on it, and a tiara and matching necklace and earings. The weather was baking hot. It was a perfect day! and we had the perfect honeymoon in Kenya on a 3 day safari and 11 days by the coast! Id do it all again tomorrow!!
Reply:We got married on the beach in St Thomas (we're from PA), we had no color scheme or theme. My dress was referred to as the "greek goddess" look, made of chiffon and a flowing train. My flowers were white roses and gardenias and we didn't have a wedding cake...we will have a summer reception for our friends and family and we'll have a wedding cake there.
Reply:WeIl we had a big church wedding. The arrival of the Queen of Sheba, Wagners Bridal March, and various hymns.

We used a rainbow colour scheme - 5 bridesmaids and 1 page boy all of whom wore cream, puffed sleeved dresses, made in a ballet style with tulle underskirts and with different colour accessories/ headresses and flowers. The girls wore cream ballet pumps with added ribbons and colour matched ribbon roses added to them. The page boy had a cream pair of trousers a cream shirt with an emerald green waistcoat and bow tie.

We had a three tier cake with a crystal heart on the top, plain icing with small icing flowers all over it to look like broidery anglais- all in cream - with multicoloured icing flower arrangments on each tier between the pillars.

We had the reception at a local hotel : 200 to the wedding and sit down meal - melon and fruit starter, roast turkey dinner and apple pie and ice cream, followed by coffee, biscuits and mints. Plus sherry, wine and champayne.

My friend made all the dresses, flower arrangments and headdresses and she set up the reception for us including table flowers etc and we added balloons.

The hotel did a warm buffet in the evening for another 150 people in the evening.

The disco was expensive and not very good and my new husband got wasted at the bar whilst I spent the evening talking to all and sundry and didn't finish one drink!

We stayed at the hotel overnight, moved into our new home the following day, and went on honeymoon the following week - we went to Derbyshire.
Reply:It was very cold out (33 degrees in the San Francisco area in early December is unusual), but perfect! Good thing only the ceremony was outdoors, reception was inside, and there was a nice big fire roaring.

Our colors were: royal blue, gold, cream, tree green

My dress was white, strapless, lace-up corset style in the back, beading on the front, pick-up skirt style with beading on each pick-up.

Bridesmaids wore simple royal blue, floor length, empire waist gowns with straps; they wore matte gold sandals with it.

My bouquet was bright pink roses and white w/pink center orchids and stephanotis. Bridesmaids had same roses and orchids (but smaller sized bouquet). Groomsmen bouttonniers were bright pink roses; Dad/grandpas/moms/grandmas had light pink rose corsages/bouts. Assistants had orchid corsages/bouts.

We designed our own cake. Three tiers, fresh white buttercream frosting, decorated with orchids, tier legs were hidden by real bamboo, 2 tiers were vanilla cake/vanilla filling, 1 tier was marbled cake/vanilla filling. The topper was made of Fimo clay by hubby's sister (it looked just like us!). Also had ice-cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery (chocolate cake w/vanilla bean ice cream).

Seating cards were hand-folded (by me) origami cranes with a tag attached for guest name/table number. Most guests took them home and hung from their Christmas trees or car review mirrors.

So many more details .. too many to type!

I loved every part of my wedding and my hubby and I are very proud of what we put together; what made it more special was that I made most everything myself (or had help making stuff) and the wedding was really personalized, right down to us picking exactly what the DJ could and couldn't play. Many of our guests complimented us on how fun, unique, and classy it was. 110 people for about $14,000 total (including my dress, bridesmaid dresses, open bar for cocktail hour, 8 hours of photography with 3 photographers) -- I think we got one heck of a deal!
Reply:we got married on the Caribbean island of st.kitts it was fantastic we told everybody about 10 months in advance so if they wanted to come they were more than welcome we chose where on the island to get married we chose the beautiful gardens in the hotel so we got ready had the steel drums playing the wedding march did the business then got changed and back in the pool after a couple of hours.went for a meal at night stayed for 2 weeks in all fantastic and cheaper than you think all for less than 3 grand 6 years ago when we got back we had a party for all the people who didn't come
Reply:My wedding was really laid back. My husband grew up in Kentucky and really wanted a southern bbq. (I had planned a more formal wedding but had a falling out with the venue a couple weeks prior) so...

my dress was a ball gown beaded and rum colored- it was a little 50's-ish. So my bridesmaids had dresses made from a vintage vogue pattern

I used peacock feathers and my colors were blue and green.

We used roses because they are my favorite flowers I had white and the girls had red with peacock feathers tucked in.

We were married at a park and the reception was under a tent.
