My mom is getting married the second week in December at the Bramble Inn and she wants it simple, yet elagant. She's having a MOH (me), a ring barrer (My cousin), a flower girl ( my other cousin) and one bridesmaid (her fiance's 17 year old daughter). Mom is going to wear a rose red dress and her fiance is wearing a dark blue suit as well as his best man and the ring barrer. The flower girl, bridesmaid and MOH of honor dresses will be lavender. What flowers should we do? What color scheme would go best with the dresses? Where should we hold the reception? We want it near Brewster, MA. Please do not give me a website, like theknot.com. I need advice from people without links as their main thing. HELP!
Wedding Ideas?
Hi Justine:
I am assuming this is a small wedding? Why hasn't your mom figured out a place for the reception? I went on the website for the Bramble Inn and they have dining right there...so why not just a small reception there? If they are already booked, she may be in trouble. As someone else mentioned, the second week in December is right in the middle of Christmas party season...so she better figure something out soon!
As far as the bouquets....why not simply go to a florist? It really depends on her budget. Here are a few pictures I found with bouquets, but, again, it depends on what your mom wants to spend! A florist can suggest flowers that will look good with the colors she has chosen. I suggest that the both of you go to a florist and look through their books of weddings! They are more than willing to help you out and work within whatever kind of budget your mom has. Good luck! Here are the pictures:

Reply:i hate to burst your bubble, but the second week of dec is the middle of the christmas party season and if you dont have a place for your wedding reception for however many people you may not be able to find any place at all with any room for your party. so, today would not be too soon to do this, it may well be completely too late. i dont know what the bramble inn is but why isnt the reception there? you should nail this down today. most brides dont go forward with wedding plans until !!!! they have a wedding and !! a reception place commited to them.
Reply:Such a varied color scheme! I would go with a mix of white, red roses, blue spruce sprigs (the evergree will be great for the season) and a maybe a touch of lavender filler, if you use predominately white as a background the flowers will show up better against the colors of the clothing in pictures. Are these clothing colors carved in stone? Any good florist should be able to work up bouquets that will coordinate. Or use silks and do them yourself.
As for the reception, wow, it is kind of late in the game to reserve a site especially with it being the holiday season. I would check with restaurants which might have a large enough facility to accomodate the number of guests you have. You could always have a reception at the home of a family member.
Reply:Why so many different colors of the rainbow? Your mother needs to stick with a specific color and work with the different types of shades for that color.
Reply:Well, there really is a bunch of colors in this wedding. My suggestion would be to go with white flowers. You can do the typical rose... they are always beautiful. My personal favorite, though, is calla lilies. White calla lilies would be very elegant, but they are also very simple.
Reply:red lavendar and navy? sounds like a mess of colors..
Reply:As for the flowers, I would go with a simple rose bouquet. Get lavender, red, ivory/cream and yellow flowers. That way the red and the lavender don't clash.
An example of a rose bouquet with red and lavender is this

As for the reception I don't know where Brewster is. I will give you a website even though you didn't want one. This will give you town reception sites in MA. I have it already in MA you just have to check on the town and they will come up. I wish I could help you personally with that but I can't.

I hope these help. If you want real flowers go to walmart the morning of the wedding and pick up a couple dozen and make small bouquets like that. It only takes 10 minutes to put a few together.
Good luck with the planning.
Reply:no offesnse but..... WHAT THE HECK WAS YOUR MOM THINKING???? flowers or no flowers, those colors will not look good together... has you mom actually said that she wants a color scheme? cuz i really dont think she does.. you cant have a color scheme with those colors.. and usually when you think up a color scheme u do it before you get the dresses...
