Hi. I have a question. The ring has been bought, plans are in early stages. But lately have been?

thinking about New Years Eve as a wedding date instead of May 2009 (It would be NYE 2009 - not 2008) Anyway, want to know if anyone has had a New Year's eve wedding %26amp; how did that effect the cost of flowers, photo, video, dj %26amp;limo. %26amp; ALSO about guests gifts. Did friends %26amp; relatives cut back on their wedding gifts to you bc they had no money from the holidays. %26amp; aside from that, what about weather?

New Year's eve is on a Thursday in 2009. since people would have off on that Friday (New Years Day) I'm not sure how that would be taken.

Stil. have to check with to church to see if that would be allowed, but the mass would be at 3:30pm with the reception following. Basically, a Saturday wedding on New Years' eve. So the time would also need to be worked out. I wouldn't want people just hanging around til the stroke of midnight. Maybe a 7:30 cocktail hr followed by an 8:30-12:30 reception. Or 7-8 cocktail hr %26amp; 8-12:30 reception.

If held in May, mass at 3:30, 6:00 c.hr 7-11recept.

All I can say is that I have to spend New Year's Eve this year at a wedding and I'm not happy about it. Neither is anyone else that's going. I get that it's your day, but there are 364 other days to choose from.
Reply:I think you should have a very small, inexpensive wedding and save the $$ the large one would cost for a house, retirement, etc. Large weddings cost a lot, and they do not ensure a successful marriage, any more than a small, family only type of shindig.

Just my thoughts. Best wishes to you.
Reply:you are stupid and go flush the ring down the toilet.
Reply:If you have unlimited funds, go ahead and plan the New Year's Eve wedding and plan to pay big for it. If you are lucky enough to find a caterer and venue to have it. New Year's is a huge money maker for them. Don't expect a discount of anykind. And I would be a little leary getting eveything promised, I am sure the venue would try to merge the two events promising you it will still be your wedding. Especially with music etc. Share the music but you will have separate rooms.

Maybe a destination wedding to the islands somewhere. People could take advantage of the long weekend and a vacation which they could incorporate as a holiday present to themselves. That's what I would plan. Or perhaps a cruise and get married before the ship sails. Invite your closest friends and relatives to join the cruise and have a party every night on the cruise. My friends got married life that and the cruise was spectacular. Met every evening for dinner which had the party atmosphere. And everyone did their own thing. The bride and groom had plenty of alone time. Because of the number of people on the cruise, the travel agent upgraded their room to a suite with plenty of extras including breakfast delivered daily to their room. Full mini bar the entire cruise. Really nice.

Good luck
