Black w/ daisies?

evening october wedding in a small country church.

carpet is red. wanting to do all black and white for the ceremony and do the same for the reception except for adding a little bit of pink.

bridesmaids are wearing black dresses that they each pick out. it is not a 'formal' wedding even though the party is all black and white. small wedding..around 55 people. to ease down the look of the black and white i was thinking of using white gerber daisies for the bridesmaids to carry....i've seen ones w/ dark centers, green centers, and of course the typical daisy w/ the yellow center. which ones do you think they should carry? give me some opinions!

i know many would suggest the cala lillies but i feel they would be too formal for a small country wedding.

also, what should i carry?

here are some pics..

Black w/ daisies?
Hi and congratulations!

Are you dead set on having daisies (regular) or gerbera daisies? The reason I ask is......look at this photo....it's about 2/3 of the way down on the link on the left and it's titled "pink roses to carry".....it's 3 pink roses with greens tied with a nice silk ribbon:

I think this would look great against the girls black dresses and would bring in some of the pink color you wanted. I DO love daisies (regular ones) and gerbera daisies.....but I absolutely love roses too. Actually, I think this would be a very inexpensive bouquet to get....and with it being an evening wedding, would bring a little more elegance rather than the gerbera daisies. That is, unless you are dead set on the gerbera daisies. I do like those too!

Warning: do NOT get Gerbera daisy boutonnieres! These wilt in no time. I read about this and witnessed it myself at a wedding. Once the daisies are cut short like that....they do not last. A reputable florist should tell you this also.

So....that is my two cents. If you want pink, I would go with a simple arrangement of pale pink roses. OR, go with the gerbera daisies in pale pink.
Reply:The first one looks really nice...You should go with that one...If the wedding is Black and White you should go with a really obvious color against the black and white theme like pinks and yellows...it will stand out...and the bridesmaids can carry the white daisies....give you, the bride, a original and unique aspect in the wedding...
Reply:Gerber daisies are fairly fragile, and I think you might end up being disappointed. I like the first flowers - I think they are a form of mum (great flowers - will hold up very well). The second ones are shasta daisies (which I don't think would work with black and white), and the last one are gerbers (too fragile).

If you want a great mix that is all white you could go with the mums (in the first picture) some alstromeria, spider mums, and green poms (for a light touch of color) and if you want you can throw in a few roses. Or maybe a bouquet of hydrangea (in white or light green).
