Centerpieces?

I was just wondering if anyone had any good, unique- yet inexpensive ideas for reception centerpieces. The wedding colors are wine (burgundy), black and white. It'll be an evening reception, semi formal. I am not into HUGE flower things that cover up a huge part of the table so you can't even see the person sitting across from you!

Any ideas would amazing! Oh, and websites too, if possible, so I could see a picture.

Thanks!

Centerpieces?
I have used this idea for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner centerpieces. You have a few different options.

Choose whether you want a tall and skinny vase, or short and fat vase. I think tall and skinny looks the best.

Fill the vase with fresh cranberries, not packed to tightly, a little more than 3/4 of the way. Fill the vase with water. Top it off with a small floating candle. If you have any cranberries floating, take them out.

The cranberries will give you the "Burgundy" color you are using and the floating candles can either be Burgundy or white. You could also use black candles, but I think that might be a little gloomy. You can also tie off the vase about 1/3 of the way up with a black shimmery ribbon.

This centerpiece will last a couple days, so it is something that can be done the day or two before the wedding.

I noticed one of the answers you received questioned what you would do with the centerpieces after the wedding. My niece gave her centerpieces (except one for herself) to her attendants, both sets of parents, and a couple of people that helped out a lot.

I hope this idea helps. Enjoy your day!!
Reply:This is what I'm doing.....

Get a mirror tile (a pack of six is about 10 bucks), get four small candle holders (50 cents each at Walmart), get votive candles in your color (33 cents each at Walmart) and a bag of potpourri. And put them together.

Here's a picture of what they'll look like minus the potpourri.

Here's a simular idea

Reply:Here is what i am doing my colors are close to yours, i am useing apple red black and white, i am also using 2 diffenet center peices, i am going to have those fat white candles with black ribbon around the top part of the candle, and then use sewing pins,(the kind that have the pearl on the end) to hold the ribbon on there, and then on the other tables i am going to have a mini bowl, that i got at micheals for $1 and i filled them with ittys bittys beads, (dark red light pink and light green) to add color to the wedding, and i also used the same flower that i have for my boquet, along with colorfull babysbreath,(go to hobbylobby and they can so you different colors of babysbreath) they look so pretty i cant wait to show every one,
Reply:Really romantic and not goddy is a round fish bowl with irredecent glass on the bottom and one Orchid in the Bowl and 4 small tea light votives, candles are the best, or instead of a flower add a dandle hurrican lamp shade Burgandy Candle medium size and then Rose petals on the table you can use a few colors of petals, like reds and pinks dark reds white also. it's fun and simple yet smells good and then agin it's candles make it romanitc.
Reply:Take white candles and wrap them with strips of ribbon (black and wine) or bows. You could place it on a mirror so wax doesn't get on the linens and them sprinkle either confetti or small stones in the wedding colors around the bottom.
Reply:I found a lot of ideas on theknot.com, they have something like 500 different photo's and you can look at. You can always twink there ideas to make them your own. I am personally having a vase with sand in the bottom, shells, starfish, sand dollars, sea glass, polished rocks, and a pillar candle in the middle. I will have ten votive holders around the vase with shells. I am also collecting the vase one buy one using a coupon for 40% of on item at Micheals Craft store to save cost and getting shells etc. in bulk for cheap at orientaltrade.com. Best wishes and good luck to you. I hope I hepled.
Reply:It really is upto you. Think about the things that you like and incorporate those - ive seen some gorgeous starfish used as centrepieces and placed on a plate with sand and then some of those little foil cutout hearts sprinkled around them. Think outside the square and you will find your perfect centrepiece.
Reply:Hi and congratulations!

You don't need to spend a ton of money for your centerpieces to look beautiful. Since you are having an evening semi-formal reception, you can't go wrong with candles!

Here is a link of an idea and it is in your colors: Simply use burgundy silk rose petals, a hurricane shade, and a white candle:

Another idea would be to get any type of glass vase you like (cylinder, round, "ivy vase", chunky square one)....whatever. Layer it with white sand and black sand (alternating) then push a votive candle into the sand - beautiful!!! I had a link to this picture, but it wouldn't work....sorry!

One more idea would be to get any small round glass dish and float burgundy rose petals along with white or burgundy floating round "disc" candles. This is simple, inexpensive, and elegant!

Whatever you choose, I would HIGHLY recommend that you place your centerpiece on a mirror. There are lots of sizes and shapes. Go with at least an 8" one (that is the most popular size). Adding a mirror under a centerpiece adds elegance! Good luck!
Reply:Ikea has lanterns..great price and assort. of colors..use these with petals scattered around.
Reply:I have been to a wedding where their were no center pieces just a small round mirror, and on top was a lace bag, that inside was a blessing to the guest, its a cute little take home for it, and maybe in the center of the mirror a vase with a white rose.carnation inside with burgundy and black lace ties.

So round mirror/reflective glass as the bottom in the center, with a vase on top with a flower and ribbon/lace around the vase and in front of each guest still on the mirror, a little note or blessing, on stone.
Reply:Before you go out %26amp; BUY any of the hardware, check with your local party supplier. It is frequently cheaper to rent the mirrors, votives, vases, etc...than to buy them.

Besides, what are you going to do with them after the reception?
