I really want to do black and white as my wedding colors. But, I also want to add something to that, to brighten up reception. I was thinking about doing pink. I want my bridesmaids to wear black dresses. I have girls of all different sizes, so I feel black gives them an advantage and more options to find something flattering. I wanted to add pink sashes (I was thinking hot pink) to the bridesmaid dresses.
The flowers and centerpieces would be a mixture of light pink and hot/brigher pink flowers. I like the contrast of those different shades together. I was thinking Stargazer Lillies and pink and ivory roses.
What do people think about the addition of hot pink? This is for a summer wedding. Do you think pink can be done with class and sophistication?
I'm having a Catholic mass and a traditional semi-formal reception. The girls will be wearing longer evening type dresses.
Black and Pink?
I've seen tons of pictures of black and (light) pink together and they look beautiful together. Reminds me of Marilyn Monroe era.
Reply:Perfect.. Sounds like you know what you are doing!
Reply:black will compliment everyone really well. i think u should throw some jewels into the bouquets and centerpieces to make it glitzy and eye cathingly elegant.
Reply:Black is always a good choice and so not dull. Its the most classic color their is for a formal event! And the hot pink will be perfect trust me, those were my wedding colors and it was georgeous. (I had black bridesmaids dresses too, and it looked so classy yet fun with the pop of pink) I think your flowers sound beautiful and you should definetly go for it. Good luck and congrats!
Reply:Go with the black with some pink flowers that would be so pretty. Black is east to find easy to match. Your bridesmaids do not have to have all the same dresses either. Just go shopping with them have them all get dresses that are similar but not the same that will make each girl feel special. Pink flowers in all different shades of pick would be so nice. Good Luck!!!
Reply:white is the color of death and black dosent make you stand out so red would be better since its a lucky color!
Reply:I love the addition of pink to the black and white wedding. It's a perfect accent color. I think it's classy and sophisticated and I love the idea of the stargazer lilies! That is one of my best friends favorite flowers and the smell!!! It's amazing! I have about 4 yankee candles in "Stargazer Lily" spread out throughout the house. It's a very unique smell.
I found a cute stargazer bouquet I think maybe you'll like...
It's a cascade bouquet... http://www.weddingflowersandmore.com/ima...

Hope that gave you a few more ideas. Congrats and good luck with all of your planning!
Reply:Hi and congratulations!
I LOVE black and bright pink together. That will be so nice. Too many are doing just the "black and white." I love the addition of the pink/hot pink. Great idea!
Reply:I think that having black dresses is the best for the bridesmaids themselves. The possiblility of wearing it again would be greater. And the hot pink color for the sashes and flowers will bring life to the dresses. I'm having asiatic lilies and hot pink and red roses. I love lilies! But, yes I think pink is appropriate for summer.
Reply:i suggest that instead of having black you do navy blue. still a very dark colour that can suit everybody but not black. would be very elegant. hot pick goes great with navy blue and ivory/white.
have a look at this link. wait for the pictures to load.

My girls are wearing black dresses with hot pink sashes! I think it looks great. Sounds like you are on the right track. I would say have your girls dresses not long. Semi-formal... make it a little more fun and go for tea length
Reply:to me you have very good taste in colors lol. i like the idea about the light pink mixed in with the hot pink. pink is a nice summer color. pink is generally a warm color and, well, summer is warm lol. it is a color that can def. be done with class and sophistication. black and pink is a good match to me because those are both my favorite colors. congrats to your marriage.
Reply:I love pink and we are having hot pink as one of our colors for the wedding, go for it really look elegant and if it is you everyone will know that. Everyone that knows me knows that I couldn't have any other color, it is very very me!
I didn't like black for summer but I totally understand why you would like it, it makes it so much easier to dress your bridesmaids and they have dresses they can wear again. I would say go with pinks, up to two shades you don't want to over do it against the simple black and white.
Good luck and congrats!
Reply:My sister is doing black dresses! With a pink sash!!! They look exellent! We are having pink flowers in our hair, and she is having pick flowers on on all the tables with the black chair coverings... Think it will look really great.
Reply:love the idea. hot pink can be done with class. i say go for it. good luck!!!
Reply:i think sounds nice but much will depend on the kind of dress and materials used....check this page...http://www.davidsbridal.com/dress_your_w...
Reply:Very good idea BUT if you want it to look a little classier, use light pink. I think light pink would look a little better with the black as the sash color is why i say this, and the men could wear light pink ties/bowties. The men would look weird in hot pink haha. Hot pink tends to look best if it is the dress itself. But the thing is, you can try on the sashes with the bridesmaid dresses so if it looks good, go with it.
Black, white, and pink look great together.
Reply:Sounds chic! The black background will also make the flowers pop. And after removing the sash, the dresses will be more likely to be worn again.
Reply:I love the thought of the splash of pink! You can do it and make is classy. Just don't overdue it. Smalle touches here and there. I am, however, not sold on the stargazers (which you said those weren't definite)...Here are some pics of pretty pink bouquets.
