My boyfriend and I are thinking about getting married here:

And then having our reception amongst the exhibits in the main part of this museum.
For the ceremony, we would play a presentation of photos from our childhoods as well as our relationship together on that big projection screen. Then we'd probably have the last picture be one of the two of us -- or a compilation of lots of the different photos -- and it would just freeze up there and just stay there during processional and the ceremony so people aren't looking at a white screen for the whole ceremony.
But, looking at this space, what else can we do to make it more of a wedding and less of a lecture? What is feasible on a small budget? I think it would cost too much for me to completely change the space, but is there a way to work with the lines and colors to improve it? Low-cost suggestions? Lighting? Flowers? It's an autumn wedding.
Decorating an auditorium?
My best suggestion would be to buy some large bolts of fabric in your colors and tack them up on the wall in a drapery style, maybe behind the buffet tables, cake table, etc. It will help to decorate the space and break up the large walls and won't have to cost a fortune depending on the fabric you go with. You could also work in some ivy with it too.
Reply:What a neat idea, I really like the photo presentation. To make it more of a wedding site, less of a lecture hall, maybe keep the lighting very dim, use alot of twinkle lights, the strands you buy at christmas, to line the aisles and stage, if you use enough you can skip most overhead lighting. Go to a local nursery and ask if you can borrow and potted trees or large plants and place tehm both on the stage and outer walls, look for the japanese maples as they will be a lovely burgandy color. Make a dramatic arch to be married under, cover it in autumn colored fabrics and flowers. If this is bold enough you won't have to worry about the rest of the stage becuase it will be the center of attention.
Reply:ivy, tulle, bows, candles - most of these you can get pretty cheap at any Garden Ridge or such
Reply:Place some inexpensive floral arrangements on the stage. Maybe something like the background in this pic:

For the seats I would go with simple pew bows. Also, ask your florist for reccmendations.
Reply:It's cold and weird. Sorry. How about an alternative idea. If you're on a tight budget, why not consider a restaurant that has a private room or a park with a gazebo for inclimate weather.
